So here goes:
Personally the cover of a book does not affect my reading enjoyment but it does affect whether I buy the book or not. A book could have the most awesome cover ever and still not catch my attention while reading it. I guess I am a picky bookworm. I also prefer paperbacks as opposed to hardback books. Thanks to Paperback Swap, it’s easier for me to get books I want to read instead of having to go out and buy them all. I also prefer books that don’t have such a small font size that I have to strain my eyes just to read the pages. Speaking of books, currently I am reading “Harvesting the Heart” by Jodi Picoult and so far I am really enjoying it. It’s basically about a woman who was raised by her father after her mother left them both. She doesn’t really remember her mother and unfortunately it affects her later in work where she leaves her husband and their baby. At least that’s what I understand so far since it’s like going back in time and telling about her childhood and how she met her husband and the whole back story. I haven’t got to present time yet. Now that I actually have time to read again, any recommendations? Well, until next time, later gators! 3 CommentsCommentors: Becca, Robmarie, Simply Precious Happy Birthday Bethy!!Posted: March 22, 2008 @ 09:56 AM ESTFiled: daily life, family First off I have to say Happy Birthday Beth!! Today is my sister’s 18th birthday so I probably won’t blog until after this weekend since I have big plans tonight and then tomorrow is Easter. Another good thing besides Beth’s birthday is the fact the boyfriend is going to be here tonight. I just thought I’d pop on to make a quick blog. We have to run to Wal-Mart and get the usual Easter dinner stuff and then the Easter basket stuff. Yes, we waited until the last minute as usual but my mom and Selena had the flu and now Nicholas has it. *knocks on wood* Beth and I are the only ones who haven’t got it yet! We gotta get some Terminix, too. Evidently our old building that we wanted to tear down but first have to move everything out of it has termites. Eww those little buggers are annoying. See, I told you, my mom is getting into full swing of spring cleaning and making the yard look better. We have plans to clean the garage soon as well. Fun. Maybe I’ll finally get a new bedroom comforter and be able to get my room painted once I decide on colors. Lol. Anyways, off to run to Wal-Mart and then going out tonight. Until next time, later gators. 4 CommentsCommentors: Cecelia, Destiny, Gill, Simply Precious Bro’s getting a house!Posted: March 20, 2008 @ 06:56 PM ESTFiled: daily life My brother and his wife have decided to start looking into getting a house. Currently they live near her parents on a nice piece of land and it was convenient since she used to be a single mom and living close to her parents was a necessity while trying to raise three kids on her own. Now, I guess they talked it over and decided they needed a little more privacy and maybe wanted to buy a house they both decided on. Evidently before they buy anything they are going to look into investing in American Home Shield which per my brother is a must have. He’s very picky about having an inspection done and making sure he has a warranty before buying anything. He likes them so much since they have a list of over 400 items that they have to check which is way more than most inspection places. I’m just happy that he’s going to have his own house closer to us! Even more so I’m glad my brother seems to be pretty cool with the boyfriend which is kind of an important thing for me. Speaking of the boyfriend, guess who’s coming tomorrow? Commentors: none Poor Bermuda Grass!Posted: March 18, 2008 @ 05:48 PM ESTFiled: daily life Now that spring is officially on its way, my mom has already started making lists upon lists of things to get for our yard and plants she plans on planting to freshen up our yard. Believe it or not, I actually like planting flowers. She decided to see if we had a local TruGreen ChemLawn Service but unfortunately we don’t. My step-dad usually takes care of any lawn care needs but my mom has decided she wants to get new Bermuda grass and have it professionally taken care of. See, we’ve had our grass since we re-built our house back in 1994, but someone completely screwed up our lawn by trying to use weed killer on it which in return damaged all of our grass. Our grass wasn’t cheap either which ticks my mom off even more. Since the whole weed killer incident which happened back in 1999, we’ve tried everything to revive our grass but unfortunately since both of our neighbors have regular grass, it has started to take over our yard and kill out the Bermuda completely. Hopefully we can find a local service or remedy to help our grass instead of completely having to have it redone. 0 CommentsCommentors: none « Previous Entries | |
