Booking Through Thursday: Lit-Ra-Chur

Filed: memes

Yes, I know it’s Friday and not Thursday but what the hey, I decided to do Booking Through Thursday a day late!

When somebody mentions “literature,” what’s the first thing you think of? (Dickens? Tolstoy? Shakespeare?)
Do you read “literature” (however you define it) for pleasure? Or is it something that you read only when you must?

When I think of literature I do think of the great classics. My favorite actually is Dickens with his “Great Expectations” which is my first classic I ever read and fell in love with. The classics are sometimes snubbed because they are old and stuffy but if you actually open your mind they bring you a whole new reading experience.

I rarely read literature anymore since most of the books I read are contemporary and not considered classics. I do think I should broaden my horizons and mix up what all I read but every time I look at a book that is considered a classic, it takes me back to Literature classes in high school. *shudders* So for now, I will gladly stick to my type of books.

In other reading news, I finally finished “Harvesting the Heart” by Jodi Picoult the other day. I haven’t started a new book since then but I did make some purchases at Wal-Mart. Well okay, my mom did for me. Lol. I will post whenever I start a new book. I must say though “Harvesting the Heart” was a great book. Picoult has this way of captivating you to the point of it’s hard to put the book down. It’s like I wanted to know what happened, no scratch that, I needed to know what happened and how the book ended. I needed to know if everything was going to end well. When it ended, it kind of confused me because I am unsure if it ended how I wanted it to or not since it didn’t end clear cut. It wasn’t like she said they lived happily ever after but how she left it off it could go either way. So I guess the ending is up to the reader which in my case, everything ended well.

I personally cannot wait for Stephanie Meyer’s new novel and the new “Twilight” series book! Oh yes, must know what happens to Bella/Edward/Jake!

Booking Through Thursday: Cover-Up

Filed: memes

It has been forever and a day since I’ve done a Booking Through Thursday so I thought I’d go ahead and participate today. So here goes:

While acknowledging that we can’t judge books by their covers, how much does the design of a book affect your reading enjoyment? Hardcover vs. softcover? Trade paperback vs. mass market paperback? Font? Illustrations? Etc.?

Personally the cover of a book does not affect my reading enjoyment but it does affect whether I buy the book or not. A book could have the most awesome cover ever and still not catch my attention while reading it. I guess I am a picky bookworm. I also prefer paperbacks as opposed to hardback books. Thanks to Paperback Swap, it’s easier for me to get books I want to read instead of having to go out and buy them all. I also prefer books that don’t have such a small font size that I have to strain my eyes just to read the pages.

Speaking of books, currently I am reading “Harvesting the Heart” by Jodi Picoult and so far I am really enjoying it. It’s basically about a woman who was raised by her father after her mother left them both. She doesn’t really remember her mother and unfortunately it affects her later in work where she leaves her husband and their baby. At least that’s what I understand so far since it’s like going back in time and telling about her childhood and how she met her husband and the whole back story. I haven’t got to present time yet.

Now that I actually have time to read again, any recommendations? Well, until next time, later gators!

TMI Tuesday #99

Filed: memes

Oh yes boys and girls, it IS that time of the week even though I missed a couple of weeks but anyways, it’s TMI Tuesday time! Now bring on the questions:

1. What did you eat for dinner yesterday?
I had a boneless bbq rib, a half piece of teriyaki steak, potato salad, baked beans, mac & cheese, and a roll. I also had banana pudding for desert!

2. How much cash is in your purse/wallet right now?
Um, I never carry cash since I’m more apt to spend cash than having to whip out my debit card but today we are lucky because I have a twenty and three one dollar bills since someone paid me back for buying them something so for once, Kate has cash.

3. What have you done to avoid being flirted with by someone you didn’t like?
Lol. Don’t even ask about the “LOL” because I have someone that flirts with me a lot despite the feelings not being reciprocated. I swear, I don’t understand why every guy I don’t like can flirt with me but never the ones I do like. Anyways, in this particular situation, I told him I was “talking” to someone so he’d know my feelings were for someone else even though I hate to lie, in this situation it was necessary so I didn’t hurt his feelings. Needless to say, the lie didn’t work so in the end I came right out with the bluntness and told him he was not my type at all but he still flirts. Awkward, eh? Sad thing is once I told him he wasn’t my type, I was automatically called a bitch… asshole.

4. Do you believe the theory “Once a cheater always a cheater”?
Oh, this one is a tricky one. In my little experience, once a cheater, always a cheater has been proven wrong time after time. I try not to date guys I know that have cheated because no matter whether he cheats on me or not, the trust barrier has already been broken by his past indiscretions. This makes me think of my sister and Shane. My sister always falls for Shane over and over and every time, he cheats thus proving once a cheater always a cheater even though I’m sure there might be one or two exceptions to the rule but why cheat anyways? Why not just dump the person you are with because if you want to cheat, the feelings aren’t obviously as strong as you thought they were now were they?

5. Describe your sex life in two words.
Non existent. I really wanted to say what sex life but that was three words and you asked for two. Ahh, it’s so sad, one of these days I’m going to turn into a nun but being a nun is worth waiting on the right kind of guy!

Bonus (as in optional): Would you/have you ever paid money for sex?
No I have not and no I would not.

And that concludes this weeks episode of TMI Tuesday which in my eyes is the best dang meme out there!

TMI Tuesday #93

Filed: daily life, memes

Guess what time it is boys and girls?? Yup, that’s right, TMI Tuesday which is by far my fave meme and no, not because it’s all pervy and stuff! Haha.

1. Leather, lace or silk?
I’d say silk even though most of my stuff has some sort of lace on it but lace can get itchy!

2. Do you subscribe (or regularly buy) to any “dirty” magazines? Which ones?
Nope.

3. Have you ever had sex in water (tub/pool/lake/ocean)?
Yes but not the lake or ocean because that’d be a little nasty. The ocean makes me think of that “Grey’s Anatomy” with the penis fish.

4. The three words that best describe you in bed are ____, ____, and ____. Three words that best describe your most recent partner in bed are ____, ____, and ____.
Me would have to be vocal and the rest I don’t know because … I’ve not observed myself. You’d have to ask an ex of mine and I won’t go there with my most recent partner. Lol.

5. Did you lose your virginity as an impetuous youth, “to prove that you loved” him/her, because of a romantic gesture, a newly wed or other (please describe because I can’t think of what an “other” might be)?
No, I lost my virginity because I was ready to. I did think I was in love at the time but that’s not entirely the reason I did it.

Bonus (as in optional): Name three words that:
a) get you excited naked abercrombie models! Hahaha.
b) make you squirm This one I have no clue to!
c) make you laugh penis, penuckle, & Bwent

Can you tell I’m a little hyper tonight? The past few days have been quite drama filled and I’m happy to be in a good mood tonight. I am still not better but I’m getting there I hope. So until next time, later gator.

TMI Tuesday #92

What, what? It’s TMI Tuesday!!

1. What’s the sexiest type of underwear?
Well I’m sure most obvious answers would be the thong but for me I think the cheeky panties are the sexiest because they aren’t as revealing but show enough to be sexy and they make my butt look nice. Lol.

2. Would you/have you ever paid money for sex?
Nope, never have and never would.

3. Is facial/body hair sexy or no? (Moustache, chest, etc. for men, and underarms/legs for women.) Or do you frankly not care?
Hmmm. I like goatees or hair under the lip on guys. That’s dead sexy! I don’t like chest hair ‘cept for a happy trail!! The whole hamburger meat hair on the chest isn’t my thing at all!

4. What is the strangest thing you’ve ever seen featured in pornography?
Not really sure since porn isn’t my thing but I saw this advertisement someone was talking about for one about aliens. Who the hell dreams of having sex with aliens? That’s just .. weird and puts a whole other meaning to ET Phone Home.

5. What’s worse, not enough sex or too much? Is there such a thing as “too much”?
I think both are a problem. Not enough sucks and too much sucks but I think I’d have too much than not enough but maybe I’m biased at the moment being a single girl!

Bonus: What’s the most illegal thing you’ve ever done (that you can admit to, at least)? Were you caught?
Ummm I once shop lifted when I was a teenager. Nothing major … but me and Mal were scared shitless when we did it but we didn’t get caught. Other than that, underage drinking but who doesn’t do that!?!
