Meow LovePosted: April 19, 2008 @ 12:27 PM ESTFiled: daily life, randomness I decided that I would grace my readers with a little photo love of my favorite kitty, Skeety. He has decided to be attached to me like glue today, going where ever I go. In fact, as I type this, he is sitting in front of me on my desk. Heck, even when I was putting up some clothes, which reminds me I desperately need to do a little online perusing of discount furniture to find myself a new dresser since my current one is over packed, Skeety decided he would follow me and perch himself inside a drawer and look at me while I was organizing the clothes in the drawer his big bohonkus of a booty was sitting in. No matter how inconvenient he can be at times, I definitely love my old man. He never seems to not make me smile which is always a good thing. So here are a few pictures of the lovely Skeety. Commentors: Joana Mom’s Spring FeverPosted: April 16, 2008 @ 12:32 PM ESTFiled: family, randomness Not sure if any of you caught my blog the other day on my mother getting into full swing of spring fever and wanting to fix up the house, but now she has joined forces with my brother. My brother is here sitting outside in our swing talking to my mother about what all she wants to get done around the house. She’s made a list and it is quite a list. There are a few small things that she wants to do like fixing up our bathroom in the hallway. It is very dark and very depressing. My brother suggested us going to look at bathroom faucets and maybe picking a style and then changing counter tops as well as some new paint and it should look ten times better. So I guess Home Depot better get used to us being in there looking for hours upon hours because choosing paint is a big deal, at least it is for my mom. 1 CommentCommentors: Simply Precious People change, or maybe others change themPosted: April 16, 2008 @ 11:23 AM ESTFiled: randomness I was having a conversation with Amanda the other day that I thought I should blog about and see if we are the only ones that notice these things. I find it amazing how some people before getting into a relationship they say how they would never let their significant other change who they are as a person. Like, they have a specific list of likes and dislikes and they are not willing to budge an inch no matter what and then three months down the line, you see that person and they are totally changed. What is up with that? Like for instance, I never claimed to never be willing to change because there are things I do with the boyfriend just to spend time with him. I personally believe in a relationship it can’t be all one way, ya know? Heck, I was watching golf with him the other day and I strongly dislike golf. I’m sorry but I don’t care to hear about how great Cobra golf clubs are and how far a dude can hit the ball, I grew up resenting golf thanks to my father who cared more about his golf swing than he did me and my brother. The point is, people change things they do when in a relationship because they want to spend time with that person and they adapt to other things because of it. So my dear readers, do you find yourself changing your interests when you are with someone for a while? Maybe it’s simple things such as you add a television show your weekly viewing list so you have something to chat about or maybe you find yourself trying out a new genre of food. Either way, I believe people change or maybe others change them. Not them as a person, but things they might do that they normally wouldn’t do. I just personally can’t stand those that say they’ll never change and then do change. It’s annoying and no one wants to hear about how bad ass you are when really, deep inside your quite a softy! 1 CommentCommentors: Simply Precious Learn something new every dayPosted: April 15, 2008 @ 09:17 AM ESTFiled: randomness I am a big fan of makeover shows, especially Extreme Home Makeover because let’s just face it, watching a lot of rich people re-do their house isn’t so exciting but watching a house being built and designed for a family in need is entertaining. On Extreme Home Makeover is where I first heard of asbestos. I knew that houses needed to be checked for it and if a house had asbestos, it needed to be treated immediately but I honestly never knew why, nor did I know asbestos causes mesothelioma. For those that don’t know what asbestos is, good ‘ole Wikipedia lists it as:
It also says:
So, I guess I learn something new every day. Well, now I need to run since Nathan and Peyton will be here soon. I’m going to be babysitter Kate today. 2 CommentsCommentors: Learn something new every day | Try New Shit, Tro Can I just say wow?Posted: April 4, 2008 @ 07:55 AM ESTFiled: randomness In my anatomy class I found myself most interested in anything involving cardiac. I guess that’s why I liked the last book I read since one of the main characters was a cardiothoracic surgeon. I guess I see them as repairing the most complex organ and being a Godsend on a daily basis for people who need another chance at life. Having had someone in my life go into cardiac arrest and not fully understanding what was going on, I know how scary it can be. I guess that is why in my class I made sure to pay full attention and educate myself further on the subject since anyone can go into cardiac arrest. One of the things I came across while doing some research was an ICD Implant. ICD stands for Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator and it basically detects abnormal heart rates. Like my cousin for instance has tachyarrhythmia which is a fast heart rate and with the ICD, it would basically monitor her heart rate and once the tachyarrhythmia started happening, it would restore her heart rate back to normal. I guess I am just amazed that a device no bigger than a stopwatch can control a person’s heartbeat and save lives. Medicine truly amazes me! I guess I get my medical amazement from my mom who watches Discovery Health channel 24/7 and the fact I want to be a nurse myself. Hopefully I’m not alone though. 0 CommentsCommentors: none « Previous Entries | |
